Sample Golf week itinerary
You will be collected in our comfortable twelve seater tour coach from your flight or Auckland hotel. A short drive of 60-90 minutes will take us to our first course of the week, the beautiful Omaha Beach Golf Club. For those who don’t have their own clubs, you will be provided your rental clubs for the week. 18 holes at Omaha is a great way to start the week. Nine holes of relatively flat fairways interrupted by numerous water features and the beach, coupled with nine holes of “lincs” style golf surrounded by a wetland reserve and high quality residences. Following this round, you will be ready for refreshments before we drive a little over two hours to our luxury four star or four star plus accommodation for the next four nights. Dinner will be at a restaurant in Paihia.
The best time to tee off at Waitangi is as the sun rises, and sun-rise over the Pacific is your treat this morning. This is a golf course with stunning views right next door to the Waitangi Treaty House. After lunch and refreshments at the club-house, we will visit the Treaty House, the stone store at Kerikeri and head back to our accommodation for a shower. Dinner tonight is a short ferry ride away at the historic Duke of Marlborough Hotel in Russell, where we will take in the flag pole most famously cut down by Maori Warrior Hone Heke. Optional boat trips around the beautiful Bay of Islands can be arranged at a small additional cost.
45 minutes from our accommodation, Kauri Cliffs is rated the 19th best golf course in the world. It is a must play for golfers visiting the north. While even on a calm day this course challenges even the best of golfers, the views over Matauri Bay, looking out to the Cavalli Islands is unforgettable. Every hole is beautifully designed and maintained. Every hole is a challenge. This is a course you will never forget.
Today we have two choices. A 90 minute drive takes us to the Peppers Carrington Golf Resort. The pure bred links course is a challenge. When you play this wonderfully scenic Matt Dye designed championship course, you will understand why they had to re-engineer it to make it easier. Play nine holes, drive your cart up the hill for lunch overlooking the vineyard, golf course and ocean, and then play the back nine.
A relatively early dinner tonight will be a casual get together at the Famous Mangonui Fish and Chip shop (after a beer or two at the Mangonui Pub. You will be ready for a shower and early night after the one hour drive back to Paihia.
Alternatively for day four, only 15 minutes from our hotel is the Kerikeri Golf Club. Kerikeri is a challenging course, surrounded in bush, well treed and with well maintained fairways and greens, this is a great experience for all comers. Most people do Carrington, but those who choose Kerikeri enjoy a slightly easier day out.
Today is our last day and will be memorable for both scenery and challenging golf. A 3 hour drive takes us to Golf harbour Country Club, a wonderful jewel in the Hauraki Gulf, only 45 minutes from Auckland. It is a world class golf course and after the round, you can relax in the club house overlooking the gulf. This is a great place to relax for an hour or so, reminisce about the quality of courses you have played, the unforgettable (and forgettable experiences). A 45 minute journey back to your CBD hotel or 90 minute trip will make sure you are on time for your outbound flight.
